That's what I hear more and more from all the successful people in my life that I talk to and socialise with.... believe you are already successful (whatever "successful" means to you) and it will ultimately come true.
One of the things I love to do is spend 15 to 20 minutes a day visualising my goals - it's like allowing yourself a little bit of "day dreaming" time, and apart from anything else it's a great way to relax and wind down.
I usually do mine in the evening before I go to bed, and it's always the same goal (repetition is the key). I sit down in my favourite armchair, and away I go. But the trick is to visualise your goal as though it has already happened - so you're visualising the end result.
Let's say I want some extra cash - I visualise what I'm going to do with that money, and also visualise the numbers on my bank statement. Take it one step further than just visualising though - actually start to "feel" inside the emotions you'll experience by having achieved that goal. I always smile while I'm visualising - that immediaately puts me in a positive frame of mind, and it just gets better and better from there in.
The hardest part is limiting myself to 20 minutes - when I first started doing this on a daily basis, I was spending at least an hour a day in my chair, which, if you have the time is fine - but don't let visualisation take over your life - you need to "get off your butt" and actually start to make those goals happen.
Trust me - it does work.
